The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga’s Power C Tour, a statewide outreach effort to prospective students on academic programs, admissions, housing, financial aid and campus life at UTC, is set to hit the road.
The third annual Power C Tour—with stops in Memphis (Thursday, Oct. 3), Knoxville (Wednesday, Oct. 23), Nashville (Monday, Oct. 28) and Chattanooga (Wednesday, Nov. 13)—gives local high school students, transfers, graduate students and their families a feel for UTC.
Representatives from the academic colleges, student services and the UTC leadership team—plus current students and mascot Scrappy—will be on hand at each event to answer questions and make connections in a friendly, relaxed environment.

“We aim to connect with students where they are, providing them with a glimpse into the thriving campus life, exceptional academic opportunities and the supportive community that defines UTC,” said Dr. Artanya Wesley, vice chancellor for enrollment management and student affairs. “We want prospective students to see firsthand why UTC is a place where they can blossom, grow and achieve their dreams.”
UTC recently announced that this fall’s enrollment figure of 11,834 was the largest in school history. The total headcount—comprised of 10,245 undergraduates and 1,589 graduate students—represented a 4.0% increase from last year.
For the second consecutive year, UTC welcomed a record number of first-year students. The freshman class of 2,473 was an increase of 4.8% from last fall’s then-record 2,359.
The Power C Tour will feature presentations, information booths, light refreshments and cool prizes, including an opportunity to win UTC scholarships.
Qualified seniors will receive the chance to get admitted to UTC on the spot—with no application fee. In order to be accepted in a “Moc Minute,” prospective students must meet stated admissions requirements (2.85 GPA with an 18 ACT or a 2.5 GPA with a 21 ACT). Students are asked to:
- Complete and submit an online application at utc.edu/apply at least 48 hours before the Power C event.
- Ask their school counselor to print their transcript and put it in a sealed envelope to bring to the event—or email it to transcripts@utc.edu.
- Bring a printed copy or photocopy of their ACT or SAT scores.
Through its four academic colleges and graduate school, UTC offers 48 bachelor’s degrees with 118 program concentrations, 25 graduate certificate programs, 23 master’s degree programs with 49 program concentrations, an education specialist program with three program concentrations and six doctoral degrees with 11 program concentrations.
