The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga honored 91 individuals whose lives impacted the University during the annual Blue and Gold Memorial service on Monday, Feb. 24, at the Wolford Family Athletics Center.
The memorial service was streamed live via Vimeo.
A cherished UTC tradition, the Blue and Gold Memorial pays tribute to alumni, faculty, staff, retirees and students who passed away during the previous calendar year. Their names are read aloud in a ceremony that reaffirms their lasting place in the Mocs family.
Established in 2012, the memorial serves as a poignant reminder that—though they are no longer physically present—they remain an enduring part of the UTC community.
UTC Interim Chancellor Robert Dooley and Associate Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs Veronica Warren provided remarks as part of the ceremony. Jason Leonard of University Ministries of Chattanooga delivered the invocation, and music was performed by the UTC Chamber Singers—under the direction of Dr. Kevin Ford—and pianist Ivy Smith.
Other memorial service participants included:
- Jordan Fall, president of the UTC Student Government Association, who recited the names of students who passed away in 2024.
- Faculty Senate President Beth Crawford, who recited faculty names.
- Assistant Vice Chancellor for Human Resources Laure Pou, who read staff and retiree names.
- UTC Alumni Board President Elect Claire Smith, who recited the names of alumni.
The ceremony concluded with a candle lighting and a moment of silence, offering a reflective space to honor and remember those we have lost.
