The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga College of Engineering and Computer Science (CECS) invites K-12 students, their parents and guardians to its E-Week Open House on Saturday, Feb. 22.
Held as part of National Engineers Week (E-Week), the open house—taking place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the UTC Engineering and Computer Science Building—is designed to introduce visitors of all ages to the exciting fields of engineering and computer science. Attendees will experience hands-on demonstrations and interactive projects while meeting local industry leaders and UTC students, faculty and staff.
The event is free to attend, but guests are asked to register in advance.
The Engineering and Computer Science Building is located at 735 Vine St. in Chattanooga. Parking is free in lots on the UTC campus.
“The E-Week Open House is a fantastic way for families, students and the community to engage with engineering and computer science in a fun, hands-on environment,” CECS Outreach Coordinator Alex Coker said. “With lab experiments, cutting-edge research and activities for all ages, this event offers a unique opportunity to see the impact of engineering and technology in action.”
E-Week Open House highlights include:
- Interactive demonstrations: UTC students and faculty will showcase hands-on projects in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical and Computer Engineering. More than 20 laboratory experiences will take place, including demonstrations on concrete canoes, the Rocket Mocs rocketry team, 3D printing, python coding, mobile robotics and digital logic.
- Visit with UTC representatives: Learn more about the University from the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships, Admissions, Advancement and Alumni Affairs, CECS Graduate Programs and CECS Career Services.
- Community partnerships: Engage with industry leaders from the Community Foundation of Greater Chattanooga, Chattanooga Technology Council, Volkswagen Chattanooga, TVA Engineering, Astec VR Headsets and the Challenger STEM Learning Center.
- Food trucks: Enjoy offerings from Soul Que and Sourdough Cuppa Joe, stationed in the ECS Breezeway.
- Giveaways every hour: Attendees can participate in exciting giveaways throughout the event.
