Campus housing relies on each Resident Assistant (RA) to build a strong community by encouraging the social, academic, and personal adjustment of students where they live and where they learn. These 62 student leaders recently spent time improving the Chattanooga community, working in three locations in the area surrounding UTC.
One group of RAs visited the McCallie Avenue Salvation Army and moved tables, swept floors, and took care of laundry. Another group assisted an after-school program run by the Inner City Ministry of First Centenary United Methodist Church. Each RA was paired with a child and helped with homework or entertained by playing games.
The largest group worked with the Weed and Seed MLK Neighborhood clean-up. This group picked up trash in the MLK neighborhood.
