UTC is one of the first colleges in the state accepted into the Healthier Tennessee Communities effort. The goal of the program is to improve the overall health of Tennesseans by encouraging participants to be physically active for at least 30 minutes each week, eat a healthy diet and stop tobacco use.

Nursing students volunteer in Costa Rican clinic
When 12 School of Nursing (SON) students and 2 faculty traveled to Costa Rica for a week, they served as medical volunteers in a clinic. They also bartered in open air markets, watched crocodiles lounging in the warm mud, ziplined through tropical flora, and became immersed in the local culture, gaining valuable insight and experience in the process.
UTC School of Nursing leads in gerontology care
To meet the growing need for healthcare professionals specializing in gerontology, the UTC School of Nursing hired Dr. Brittany Cusack as the Vicky B. Gregg Chair of Gerontology in the School of Nursing. Since joining the nursing faculty, Cusack led the efforts to start an Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program in the School of Nursing, and to create a gerontology concentration in the master of social work program.
Susan Davidson appointed to the UT Board of Trustees
Susan Davidson, Professor of Nursing and immediate past president of the UTC Faculty Senate, has been appointed a trustee representing faculty on the UT Board of Trustees.
School of Nursing hosts End of Life Conversation
The UTC School of Nursing, in partnership with Hospice of Chattanooga, will host “Conversations on the End of Life” on Thursday, April 28, 7–9 pm in the UC Auditorium. Admission is free and open to the public.

On April 16, from 9 A.M. – 12 P.M., in the UC Auditorium, the School of Nursing and the COMPASS Grant will host a free lecture examining examine the issue of health equity and how inequality contributes to differences in health.
