Black male student initiative boosts retention and graduation rates
A highly structured program focused on more than success in the classroom is increasing the number of black male graduates at UTC.
Student Support Services (SSS) launched the University’s first-ever black male initiative, Black Males on Campus (BMOCS) in fall 2010 to promote the retention of black male students so that they can succeed and graduate from UTC. Not only does this program focus on success in the classroom, it also addresses social, cultural, emotional, personal and financial issues.
CHEPS publishes journal
With support from the Maclellan Foundation, the UTC College of Health, Education, and Professional Studies (CHEPS) has recently begun publishing the Journal of Adolescent and Family Health (JA&FH).
UTC Nursing students are raising money for a trip to Guatemala
In many parts of the world people don’t have the same readily available access to healthcare that most people in the United States have. UTC School of Nursing (SON) students are raising the money to take a trip to one such place, Guatemala City, to try to change that.
UTC TV Studio renovated

Three UTC students walked away with start-up capital and a paid trip to Tampa, Florida, following the second annual Elevator Pitch Competition. Sponsored by the UTC College of Business CEO Club, seven contestants were given 90 seconds to summarize and deliver a pitch for their business ideas to a panel of judges.

The Sixth Annual Introduction to Asia Conference will be held Tuesday, February 18, 12 noon until 5 p.m. at the UTC University Center Auditorium. Admission is free and open to the public.
