Brewing innovation: CH-AI Brews podcast bridges AI and academia
More than 80 people—students, faculty, staff and visitors––turned out to celebrate the launch of a student-led podcast from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga’s Artificial Intelligence Initiative. Also known as “Chattanooga’s Artificial Intelligence,” the CH-AI team hosted the Thursday, Aug. 29, launch party for “CH-AI Brews: Infusing Conversations About AI” in the Guerry Center on campus.
Recognizing dedication: UTC to celebrate staff and faculty service milestones
Each year, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga honors staff and faculty who have reached significant service milestones. This year, 242 members of the UTC family will be recognized for reaching important service milestones during the UTC Service Awards Annual Luncheon on Tuesday, Sept. 17—one of the highlights of Founder’s Week. The luncheon provides University administrators with a chance to express their appreciation for their employees’ dedicated service.

Justin Domon graduated from the UTC accelerated Bachelor of Applied Science: Information Technology in Cybersecurity (BAS-IT CyS) program in August. That’s just 12 months after he enrolled in 2023. Following that, he’ll remain a paid intern with TVA through the end of 2024 or until he takes a full-time position—whichever comes first.
Perseverance personified: How Rakiesha Lewis has juggled motherhood, work and her educational journey
Not only was Rakiesha Lewis a full-time criminal justice student completing an undergraduate degree at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 2020, but she was also a full-time mom of three. Four years later, she is a full-time employee coming back to UTC to pursue a Master of Science in Criminal Justice.
Recent UTC graduate Marietta Song lands prestigious international fellowship
Marietta Song, a May 2024 University of Tennessee at Chattanooga graduate with a bachelor’s degree in studio art, has been awarded the highly competitive Stevens Initiative Alumni Fellowship. She is the first UTC alum to receive this fellowship, which is supported by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
UTC a leader or collaborator on three of seven projects awarded ‘TNGO’ funds
Of almost $3 million in funding for a combined seven projects announced by the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development (TNECD), the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga is leading one project and a collaborator on two other projects. The total $2.9 million in grants is being awarded through TNECD’s Transportation Network Growth Opportunity, or TNGO, initiative.
The people of UTC: Get to know Jackie Jones
When you step into the Bursar’s office at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, it won’t be difficult to spot Jackie Jones. Her bubbly personality is inviting, and she will not hesitate to answer your Bursar-related questions. Not only is she a staff member at UTC, but she is also a recent alum. Jones graduated with a bachelor’s degree in communication in May, so she understands the questions that come with being a student.

UTC is gearing up for another exciting Welcome Week, an annual tradition that introduces new students to campus life. This year’s festivities, which take place from Sunday, Aug. 18, through Saturday, Aug. 24, are set to kick off with the Oak Street Roast—marking the beginning of a week chockful of opportunities for students to connect, explore and immerse themselves in the UTC community.
