UTC’s Derek Liuzzo named 2024 Emerging Educator by national organization
Dr. Derek Liuzzo, assistant professor and assistant program director of the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, has been named the 2024 recipient of the Emerging Educator Award by the American Council of Academic Physical Therapy (ACAPT).

UTC announces record fall 2024 enrollment
This fall’s final 14-day enrollment figure is the largest in University of Tennessee at Chattanooga history, according to the University’s just-recorded official census data. The total headcount at UTC, as reported to the Tennessee Higher Education Commission and the UT System, was 11,834—a 4.0% increase from last year—comprised of 10,245 undergraduates and 1,589 graduate students.

Free undergraduate admissions application week starts Sept. 16
Free Application Week at UTC is Sept. 16-20 and will save undergraduate applicants $30 each. Applicants must use FREEAPP25 when prompted for a discount code in the regular UTC application portal.
UTC to host fall 2024 Meacham Writers’ Workshop Sept. 26-28
The 2024 Meacham Writers’ Workshop, a free event open to the public, takes place from Sept. 26-28 at the UTC Library, the University Center and at Stove Works (1250 E. 13th St. in Chattanooga). The workshop’s mission is to provide UTC students and underserved community members with greater access to the literary arts.
Honors honor: Recent alum Emily Patton earns national recognition
Emily Patton, a May 2024 graduate and Brock Scholar who earned bachelor’s degrees in environmental science and humanities: international studies, has been selected as one of four 2024 Portz Scholars—one of the most prestigious honors for undergraduate students in honors programs across the country.
