Blue and gold go green on Mocs Express shuttles
If you think the Mocs Express buses seem quieter than usual, don’t worry, your hearing is still good. Since January, the four shuttle buses at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga have been fully electric-powered, and the mechanical grumble of a diesel engine replaced by a smooth hum.

Animal attraction: Petting zoo fascinates large crowd on Chamberlain Field
Over three hours, UTC students, faculty, staff—basically anyone who was there at the time—were given the chance to pet a host of animals, including goats, rabbits, donkeys, sheep and Highland cows, native to Scotland, and an alpaca, native to South America.

Addressing abuse: Educational seminar draws victims’ advocates from across Tennessee
Since 2018, Dr. Christina Policastro, assistant professor in criminal justice at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, has held weeklong seminars to provide that information to advocates. The Senator Tommy Burks Victim Assistance Academy addresses ways to help prevent abuse, recognize it when it happens and find resources available for victims and advocates.

New engineering center to prep students for technology of today’s workplace
With additive manufacturing—better known as 3D printing—projected to grow exponentially, so is the need for engineers who can use the technology to overcome barriers and solve problems. A new facility at UTC is expected to address that need. A groundbreaking ceremony for the Innovation and Advanced Manufacturing Application Center took place on campus Monday, Feb. 13.
