HHP offers new Master’s Degree, Physical Activity and Health
In fall 2014, the Health and Human Performance Department will officially begin to offer a new Master’s Degree, Physical Activity in Health. This new degree focuses on public health and health promotion. The focus will be on promoting health within community based organizations, which might mean neighborhoods, work sites, corporations, small businesses, or school settings.

BlueCross establishes Vicky B. Gregg Chair at UTC
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga announces the establishment of the Vicky B. Gregg Chair of Gerontology in its School of Nursing. The Chair is funded by a $1.5 million gift from the BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee Health Foundation and honors the distinguished career of the organization’s retired chief executive officer.
Two commencement ceremonies scheduled, number of grads increases
As UTC’s student body grows, so do the number of graduates. That’s why beginning this semester, the University will hold two commencement ceremonies, dividing graduates based upon their colleges. Both ceremonies will be held Saturday, December 14, in the UTC McKenzie Arena.
UTC launches series of learning lunches
It’s a common misconception that dyslexia is just reading words incorrectly, but according to Dr. James Herman of MTSU, the learning disability has deeper neurological roots. Herman was on campus to speak at a new series focused on community education, sponsored by the UTC McKee Chair of Excellence.
