UTC will celebrate all of its first-generation college students Nov. 6-10 during First Gen Week. The weeklong series of events will recognize trailblazing Mocs creating their own unique path here at UTC as the first in their families to pursue college degrees.
Picture perfect: Power C Tour takes UTC to Knoxville
The Power C Tour gives high school students, transfers, graduate students and their families a feel for UTC. Representatives from the academic colleges, student services and the UTC Executive Leadership Team—plus current students and mascot Scrappy—travel to each site to answer questions and make connections in a friendly, relaxed environment.
UTC raises more than $1.7 million for Fourth Annual Day of Giving
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga raised $1,734,947.42 from 2,131 donors during its fourth annual Mocs Give Day on Oct. 3. The day’s original fundraising goals to raise $1,000,000 from 1,500 donors were exceeded by nearly 73% and 42%, respectively.
UTC hosting conversations on “Changing the World with Stories”
A pair of best-selling authors are coming to UTC for a conversation exploring how storytelling can broaden perspectives. National Book Award winner Colum McCann, author of the New York Times bestseller “Let the Great World Spin,” and Ishmael Beah, a Quill Award-nominated author and human rights activist, will participate in a panel discussion called “Changing the World with Stories” from 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 24, in the University Center Auditorium.
Royal coronation: Crowning of king and queen caps off Homecoming Week
A memorable Homecoming Week 2023 at the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga came to a close on Saturday, Oct. 7, with the crowning of the Homecoming King and Queen during halftime of the Mocs’ football game against Western Carolina—seniors Tred Hill and Dominique Harris.

The Roland Hayes Concert hall nearly burst at the seams for a National Hazing Prevention Week conversation on Tuesday, Sept. 26, almost reaching its 505-capacity seating for a Hazing Prevention Workshop. The workshop, one of the highlights on the “Mocs Don’t Haze” calendar, proved an empowering exchange of ideas between the guest speaker, Dr. Jason Meriwether, and the UTC community.
