Founder’s Week: UTC celebrates its 137th anniversary
Every September, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga celebrates Founder’s Week—a weeklong commemoration of the first day in the University’s history. On Sept. 15, 1886, Chattanooga University opened its doors for the first time with a teaching staff of seven and an enrollment of 118 students.
Blue Ribbon Award winners recognized for first six months of 2023
The Chancellor’s Blue Ribbon Award recognizes employees who have gone above and beyond to display excellent job performance, dependability, innovation, and promote a pleasant working environment. The winners from the first half of 2023 were recognized at a luncheon on Aug. 29.

New scholarship to honor longtime UTC executive Dr. Richard Brown
Dr. Richard Brown, who provided more than 38 years of service to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and the University of Tennessee System, is the namesake of the new Richard Brown Inclusive Access Scholarship at UTC.

To celebrate Veterans Day, UTC Veteran and Military Affairs—thanks to generous donations from partners and sponsors—will host food trucks on campus from 2-6 p.m. on Friday. “It’s a way to reach out to not only our veterans on campus but to the veterans within the community.”
