Former Interim Chancellor Grady Bogue honored at Blue and Gold Memorial
For a man whose favorite meal of the day was breakfast, it seems fitting that the tree planted on campus in honor of former interim chancellor Dr. Grady Bogue has a great view of the sunrise over Lookout Mountain. The dedication of the tree took place at this year’s Blue and Gold Memorial Service.
Women of Distinction includes Dr. Debbie Ingram
Dr. Debbie Ingram is among the 2014 Chattanooga Area Women of Distinction honored by the American Lung Association in Tennessee. Those honored were recognized for their professional achievements and commitments to the community.
Three UTC women honored by Girls Inc. of Chattanooga
Three of the ten Unbought and Unbossed women honored by Girls Inc. of Chattanooga in 2014 are employed by UTC. They are Dr. Stephanie Bellar, Dr. Christine Benz Smith, and Kathy Purnell.

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga’s School of Nursing has been recognized as a top 20 nursing school in CollegeAtlas.org’s Top Nursing Schools 2014 rankings.
Executive order establishes Mayor’s Task Force to end chronic veterans’ homelessness
Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke and City Council Chairman Chip Henderson came to campus to meet with members of the UTC Student Veterans Organization and UTC faculty members who served in the military to discuss the issues veterans face during service and upon their return home.

How do you describe a young woman who goes to Honduras on a mission trip at the age of 19, discovers a starving, disabled, neglected little boy and embraces him as her own, takes him to live with her in Chattanooga, attends classes at UTC while she raises him for the last two years, graduates, and then returns to Honduras to establish a non-profit program to help care for abused women and young mothers?
Two commencement ceremonies set for May 3
Approximately 1,170 UTC students will graduate in two ceremonies on Saturday, May 3, at the McKenzie Arena. Currently, there are 910 undergraduates and 260 graduate students prepared to receive their degrees.
