Every September, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga commemorates its creation during Founder’s Week—a weeklong celebration of the first day in the University’s history. Founder’s Week 2024 is highlighted by the grand opening of the Wolford Family Athletic Center—the site of Chancellor Steven R. Angle’s annual State of the University address.
Starting the school year right with the 2024 edition of Convocation
Convocation—the annual celebration of incoming students at UTC—was held on Friday, Aug. 16, at McKenzie Arena for the class of 2028. With the help of the Marching Mocs, Ladies of Gold and Spirit Squad, UTC welcomed its new students in style as music and dancing filled the arena throughout the program.
UTC’s Olivia Reeves brings home the Olympic gold
On Friday, Aug. 9, Olivia Reeves—a senior sociology student at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, became the first U.S. weightlifter to win gold at the Olympics in 24 years. She also set an Olympic record with a snatch of 117 kg (257.9 pounds).
