Students from five University of Tennessee at Chattanooga classes filled the UTC Library’s Roth Reading Room on a recent Thursday evening for a collaborative zine fest, an event showcasing projects from courses taught by UC Foundation Professor and Associate Department Head of English Sybil Baker, Assistant Professor of Sociology Natalie Blanton, Associate Professor of History Susan Eckelmann and Assistant Professor of Anthropology Emma McDonell.
Turning back the clock: UTC Anthropology hosts paleo skills workshop
For a few hours on a recent Saturday afternoon, UTC students and professors set aside their phones and laptops, opting for another type of technology. They gathered on Chamberlain Field—temporary training grounds for paleolithic skills—to try their hand at atlatls, slings, friction fires, grinding corn and flint knapping.

Honors College students explore Chattanooga during City as Text
On Aug. 14, approximately 140 incoming UTC Honors College students in the Brock Scholars and Innovations in Honors programs were divided into groups of four to five and tasked with exploring local historic neighborhoods. The students were encouraged to walk through a neighborhood or area to gain a better understanding of their community.
Chancellor Lori Bruce addresses Chattanooga Rotary Club
In her first major public address as chancellor of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, Dr. Lori Bruce delivered a powerful and inspiring speech to a packed house at the Chattanooga Rotary Club meeting Thursday, July 17, held at the Chattanooga Convention Center. The audience included regional leaders, alumni and community partners eager to hear her early priorities for UTC.
