UTC leaders, faculty and staff gathered Monday, Jan. 12, for the kickoff meeting of the Mocs Flight Plan, marking the start of a coordinated, campuswide effort to implement the University’s Strategic Enrollment Plan approved in fall 2025. The Mocs Flight Plan establishes UTC’s roadmap for reaching 15,000 students by 2030 while strengthening retention, student outcomes and the overall student experience.
“A Moc’s First Class” helps new students start strong at UTC
The first day of college is about to get a bit easier at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. “A Moc’s First Class,” scheduled immediately after Convocation on Friday, Aug. 15, is designed to help incoming students feel confident, connected and ready for their first week on campus.
Connecting the classroom to Chattanooga with “A Moc’s First Year”
“A Moc’s First Year” officially launched during the fall semester, and first-time, first-year UTC students explored what the city of Chattanooga has to offer. The University initiated the new program with the intention of building learning communities to ease the transition of first-time students into college while creating a community with fellow students.
Start soaring with a Moc’s First Flight
The fall 2024 semester is swiftly approaching as University of Tennessee at Chattanooga staff and faculty diligently prepare for the arrival of the campus’ new Mocs. While the official “Welcome Week” festivities don’t begin until Aug. 18, UTC has prepared a plethora of activities for new students as they start their college careers.
Introducing ‘A Moc’s First Year’: New first-year experience program aims to create a sense of community and connection to Chattanooga
“A Moc’s First Year” will connect current and new initiatives toward a centralized learning community model that increases student and faculty interaction, the sense of community on campus, new students’ connectedness to Chattanooga, and overall UTC student success.
Staff impression: New Mocs hires welcomed to campus
A new UTC monthly welcoming event brings together Mocs staff hired during the previous month. For instance, employees who joined UTC in September were invited to an Oct. 24 meet-and-greet—which also included several Executive Leadership Team members and administrative support staff.
Dr. Delight Yokley named assistant provost for Student Success
Dr. Delight Yokley has been appointed assistant provost for Student Success at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and will join the University on Sept. 18. Dr. Jerold L. Hale, UTC provost and senior vice chancellor for academic affairs, announced the appointment.
