Founder’s Week 2024 is highlighted by the grand opening of the Wolford Family Athletic Center—the site of Chancellor Steven R. Angle’s annual State of the University address.
Founder’s Week: UTC celebrates its 137th anniversary
Every September, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga celebrates Founder’s Week—a weeklong commemoration of the first day in the University’s history. On Sept. 15, 1886, Chattanooga University opened its doors for the first time with a teaching staff of seven and an enrollment of 118 students.

UTC to celebrate its 127th anniversary
Birthday cake is on the menu as the University celebrates its Founder’s Day on September 13. The Student Alumni Council and alumni will be serving cake in Heritage Plaza from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in honor of UTC’s 127th anniversary.
