This year, 194 UTC employees were honored during the UTC Service Awards Annual Luncheon on Tuesday, Sept. 16, a signature event of Founder’s Week. Service awards are presented in five-year increments, beginning with an employee’s fifth year of regular service, and highlight the value of employee contributions while reinforcing UTC’s culture of appreciation and retention.

UTC graduating senior Mackenzie Smith aims to become the seventh physician in her immediate family, but medical school will have to wait until after her soccer career ends. Smith has her eye on playing professional soccer overseas. Then, the two-time all-Southern Conference player and biochemistry major plans to join her five siblings and father and attend medical school.
Maggie Shaw’s decorated UTC run to close with a nursing degree
Maggie Shaw, who will receive a bachelor’s degree in nursing on Dec. 17, was a three-time all-Southern Conference first-team soccer selection and a two-time SoCon Defensive Player of the Year.
