Brock Scholars and Innovations Scholars from UTC’s Honors College presented their academic research and gave talks on best practices in honors education at the 2016 Annual Meeting of the Southern Regional Honors Council in Orlando, Florida.
Honors Students study environmental impact of hurricanes in the Bahamas
This semester, twelve Honors College students spent their spring break in the Bahamas snorkeling, hiking, and studying Tropical Island Ecology and Geology as part of a general education science course.
O’Dea receives national award from American College of Physicians
Dr Gregory O’Dea, Associate Dean of the Honors College and UC Foundation Professor of English at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, has been awarded The Nicholas E. Davies Memorial Scholar Award from the American College of Physicians.

Alumnus Honored by American Academy of Emergency Medicine
UTC and Brock Scholars Alumnus Andy Walker received the 2016 James Keaney Award from the American Academy of Emergency Medicine at the 22nd Annual AAEM Scientific Assembly in February.
Brock Scholars experience the art and history of Spain
A group of Brock Scholars, faculty, and alumni recently returned from a 10-day trip to Andalusia and Barcelona, the culmination of the Spain Travel Seminar course. Each spring semester, a Travel Seminar is designed to explore the fine art and history of a major cultural center abroad.
Fisher named Truman Scholar
Robert Fisher, a Brock Scholar and Student Government Association President at The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, has been named a 2014 Truman Scholar by the Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation. Fisher plans to earn his undergraduate degree in political science in May 2015. He is the fourth student in the school’s history to be named a Truman Scholar.

Brock Scholars travel to London
For the first time in her life, Saba Munir traveled without her family and across the Atlantic in summer 2013 to visit London. She joined fellow Brock Scholars as they explored the fine arts and history of this major cultural center, the culmination of the Travel Seminar course.
