UTC student interns with Volkswagen in Germany
UTC’s first-ever intern for Volkswagen in Germany is preparing to leave for Wolfsberg. The University is hopeful Adrianna Eder, a Brock Scholar, is the first of many UTC students who will participate in the UTC-Osfalia University of Applied Sciences bilateral exchange relationship.
UTC develops partnership with the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians
UTC students will have the opportunity to live and work with the Eastern Band Cherokee in the Cherokee community May 5 – 23, 2014.
“In May 2013 we made an agreement, a tribal council resolution, with the Eastern Cherokee Band, recognizing a partnership between the Military Science Department at UTC and the Eastern Band for the purposes of scholarship, cultural exchange, and cultural consciousness,” says Major Robert Ricks.
Chemistry student selected for internship, MIT program
JasLynn Murphy aspires to become a research chemist, perhaps with the National Institutes of Health or the Department of Defense or the Environmental Protection Agency. Her undergraduate research with Dr. Stefanie Whitson at UTC prepared her for a summer internship in Washington, D.C., at the National Science Foundation – Research Experiences for Undergraduates program at Georgetown University. She’s also been selected to attend a program at MIT, DOW-MIT ACCESS, designed “to introduce students to the exciting possibilities of graduate-level education in chemical engineering, materials science, and chemistry.”
Galtere interns spend the summer in Empire City
Following a lengthy application and interview process, four UTC Finance students were selected to participate in a four-week summer internship with Galtere, Ltd., a commodities-focused hedge fund, in New York City.
Washington D.C. internship yields big returns
Robert Fisher had sixty minutes warning he would meet President Barack Obama.
Fisher is a UTC Brock Scholar and the incoming Student Government Association President. He spent the summer in Washington, D.C., as an intern for the Center for American Progress, following his acceptance into The Institute for Responsible Citizenship’s prestigious summer leadership program. Fisher and his student colleagues met with lawmakers and asked for a resolution to the student loan interest rate problem.
