Noted achievement: Trio of UTC music therapy graduates ‘confirm they picked the right career’
Keely Phillips and Kyndall Blum are the first students to attend the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga as music therapy majors for all four years they were enrolled. They are graduating as part of December commencement ceremonies. Joseph Taylor, who transferred from Belmont University in Nashville to UTC as a junior, also is graduating with a music therapy degree—the first transfer student to earn the degree.
RAM tough: Volunteer opportunity brings UTC students, staff and faculty together ‘to make an impact and be engaged in the community’
Over the weekend of Sept. 9-10, volunteers around the region offered their services to the Remote Area Medical (RAM) clinic—including approximately 75 students, staff and faculty from the UTC Social Work, Music Therapy, Modern and Classical Languages and Literatures, Master of Public Health and Nurse Practitioner programs and the UTC RAM Chapter student organization.
Top 20 Under 40: Music therapy success brings wide recognition to Katherine Goforth Elverd
The extent and importance of Katherine Goforth Elverd’s accomplishments on and off the UTC campus is being noticed. Chattanooga’s Chatter magazine selected Elverd, professor and director of the music therapy degree program at UTC, to its 2023 ‘20 Under 40’ list.
Oh, say can they sing: Trembling Troubadours show off their voices
Since the creation of the Trembling Troubadours, Katherine Goforth Elverd had a goal of having the group perform the national anthem before a Chattanooga Lookouts minor league baseball game. On July 24, that goal was realized.
