Haley Solomon, the faculty adviser of the Perch, with the help of her dedicated students, such as Perch Station Manager Fay Aregai, have rebranded and rebuilt the UTC student radio station after COVID-19 pressed the pause button for this student organization in March 2020.

If at first you succeed: UTC chemistry professor lands research grant on initial attempt
Assistant Professor of Chemistry Ben Stein was awarded a $322,375 grant from the NIH for the project entitled, “Characterization of non-canonical regulatory pathways in the Caulobacter NtrYX signaling system.” The NIH Research Enhancement Award, known as an R15, is only the second received by a UTC faculty member in recent years.
New Percussion Ensemble director ready to ‘Beat Hunger’
Performed by the Percussion Ensemble, “Beat Hunger” is a concert to raise money for Chattanooga’s Community Kitchen, which helps feed and clothe the homeless as well as offering shelter and counseling.

Sibling rivalry: Sister and brother have pushed each other to excellence
Sherreda Peggs knew just what she had to do after her brother, Cinque, announced he was the salutatorian at their high school: She had to be valedictorian. Their sibling rivalry continues today at UTC, where Cinque is a senior and Sherreda a junior.
