The College of Arts and Sciences launched five new residential learning communities (RLCs) in fall 2022. These are living/learning communities made up of students with similar interests or areas of study. The goal is to speed up the process of forging a community while away at college.

Four real: Guthrie Men’s Quartet harmonizing their hearts out
The Guthrie Men’s Quartet, comprised of tenor Gabriel Hubbard, bassist Ryan Berry, tenor Owen Langford and baritone Will Lowery, first performed in fall semester 2022 after local businessman and alumnus John Guthrie donated $150,000 to the UTC Department of Performing Arts.
Music, life and legacy of Roland Hayes to be featured at UTC’s Roland Hayes Concert Hall
Jackson Caesar will perform music by Roland Hayes in the style of Hayes in “Spirituals: Celebrating the Music, Life and Legacy of Roland Hayes” at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 13, in the UTC Fine Arts Center’s Roland Hayes Concert Hall.

The three-day Tri-State Honor Band Festival, attended by 125 high school students, brought prospective band members from as far away as Chester County in West Tennessee and Greeneville, South Carolina.
Student voices: Radio station rebirth brings Perch back to UTC
Haley Solomon, the faculty adviser of the Perch, with the help of her dedicated students, such as Perch Station Manager Fay Aregai, have rebranded and rebuilt the UTC student radio station after COVID-19 pressed the pause button for this student organization in March 2020.
