The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Department of Communication has received a vote to fully reaccredit the program by the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (ACEJMC).
Two professors earn UTAA Outstanding Teaching Award
Dr. Joanie Sompayrac’s impact on students is “beyond extraordinary” and Dr. Matthew Guy is able to take “abstruse concepts and make them understandable” for his students. Both were selected for the University of Tennessee Alumni Association (UTAA) Outstanding Teaching Award.
Thompson receives UTAA Public Service Award
After serving in the classroom and in the Chattanooga community for more than three decades, Dr. Roger Thompson has earned the University of Tennessee Alumni Association Public Service Award. He works with local government to address crime problems and continues to work on behalf of the homeless population.
University hosts Sisters of the Academy Institute
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Office of Equity and Diversity partnered with Sisters of the Academy Institute (SOTA) to host a writing retreat for UTC faculty. At this retreat, participants had access to coaches and facilitators who provide advice and feedback on dissertations, manuscripts, reports or book chapters.
Students receive awards at Chemistry banquet
The UTC Department of Chemistry hosted its twenty-sixth annual awards banquet to recognize the outstanding contributions of its students in the areas of service, research, and scholarship.
Two students honored at Public Administration and Nonprofit Management luncheon
Two UTC students were honored at the annual Public Administration and Non-Profit Management (PANM) Community Advisory Board luncheon. Meghan Greene won the Ralph Anderson Award and Sid Sadler received an award of special appreciation.

Register now for summer classes!
It’s time to register for summer school! Summer school is all about helping students register for the classes you need so you can graduate sooner. We have streamlined the schedule to include two six-week sessions and one 12-week session. Day and evening classes will be offered during all of the sessions. Summer class sessions begin May 14 and June 25.
Faculty retirees recognized
The UTC Faculty Senate and the entire campus community recognize the 2014 faculty retirees for their outstanding service to the University. This group was recently honored at a faculty dinner where Chancellor Steve Angle commended the group for serving with distinction and dedication and for touching the lives of countless students across all disciplines.
