Emma Sprayberry’s senior year is filled with traveling and perfecting her resume. While at UTC, Sprayberry has studied in Korea, Germany, Canada, and Spain and is Panama-bound for a study-abroad opportunity in March. How has she managed all the traveling? Sprayberry utilized study abroad resources available at the Center of Global Education (CGE) and applied for programs aligned with her academic and professional aspirations.
Wheels on the bus: Multidisciplinary UTC sociologist seeking a broader understanding of transportation accessibility
Without reliable transportation, some low-income people are isolated, socially excluded and forced to adapt by making a choice that further perpetuates their isolation: “I just don’t go nowhere.” Dr. Chandra Ward reports this finding in her paper, “How transportation disadvantage reinforces social exclusion,” published in the June 2023 Journal of Transport Geography.
Happy Anniversary: MCC, WaGE celebrate 15 years of providing UTC students a ‘sense of belonging’
For 15 years, the Multicultural Center and the Center for Women and Gender Equity have provided safe spaces for students at UTC. The organizations will jointly celebrate their 15th anniversaries with a reception from 2-4 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 29, at Lupton Hall.

On Friday, Feb. 23, a University of Tennessee at Chattanooga group—consisting of faculty, staff and student Jannat Saeed—visited the UT-Oak Ridge Innovation Institute at Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

UTC Theatre Co. presents Dolly Parton’s “9 to 5 the Musical”
The UTC Theatre Co. will present “9 to 5 the Musical” from Feb. 27 through March 2 in the UTC Fine Arts Center’s Dorothy Hackett Ward Theatre. Nightly shows begin at 7:30 p.m. with a 2 p.m. matinee performance on Saturday, March 2.

The largest academic conference held on the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga campus is only a couple of months away. The 2024 UTC Spring Research and Arts Conference will be held on Wednesday, April 10, in the University Center. Sponsored by the Office for Undergraduate Research and Creative Endeavor (URaCE), the event allows UTC students, faculty and staff to share their research or showcase their creative work with their peers.
