The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga raised $1,734,947.42 from 2,131 donors during its fourth annual Mocs Give Day on Oct. 3. The day’s original fundraising goals to raise $1,000,000 from 1,500 donors were exceeded by nearly 73% and 42%, respectively.
Sales Institute prepares students for a career in ‘a noble profession’
The Sales Institute in the Gary W. Rollins College of Business was officially announced in November 2022, and its first students enrolled in January 2023. Along with classroom courses, the Institute offers six “Business Skills Labs” where students can conduct mock interviews and practice sales calls on potential “buyers.”
100 years and counting: Marching Mocs hit the century mark
The unofficial birth of the Marching Mocs band is thought to have begun when eight students from the University of Chattanooga got together to play music for a student body meeting. What may have cemented the band’s future happened the next day, though, when the eight played at a football game between UC and Cumberland College. The dates were Oct. 12-13, 1923, making this year the band’s 100th birthday.
Making the grade: Harvard graduate now playing linebacker for the Mocs
Mocs linebacker Kobe Joseph has aspirations of being a pro football player. And even if he doesn’t make it, there’s always the MBA he’s pursuing from UTC and the Harvard University bachelor of arts degree in human developmental and regenerative biology with a secondary major in economics.
Club sports revival: Campus Recreation’s student sports organizations making a comeback
After a long struggle to return after COVID-19, club sports are finally regaining momentum at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. The resurgence was evident at “Chattanooga Nights,” a mid-September recruiting event hosted by the club sports programs that featured games, food and representatives from multiple club sports.

UTC football program commended for its life saving work by national donor organization
Thanks to the efforts of Mocs football student-athletes in April, 200 members of the UTC campus community have been added to the national Be The Match Registry for blood stem cell and marrow donations. The Mocs football team has been involved with Be The Match since 2011, adding 1,189 people to the registry over the years.
