UTC hosts three prominent experts when ‘Gig City Goes Quantum’
An Oak Ridge National Laboratory researcher, the chief scientist with a Denver-based quantum startup and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga’s own quantum optics expert headline three UTC-hosted presentations offered in conjunction with Gig City Goes Quantum, an initiative to prepare for education, jobs and business opportunities in the emerging quantum technology field.

Blue and Gold Preview Day highlights the “small things that make us great”
UTC held its annual spring Blue and Gold Preview Day on April 1 to show prospective students and their families the uniqueness of the University. With around 465 students in attendance for the event—plus parents and other family members—2023’s spring preview day was the largest the campus has ever had.

Special Collections, AVA collaborate to showcase works of Chattanooga artist Barry Moser
A University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Library Special Collections exhibit is going on the road for the first time. Special Collections and the Association for Visual Arts (AVA) have organized an exhibition of art pieces and fine bindings created by Barry Moser, a native of Chattanooga and a 1962 graduate of the University of Chattanooga. The presentation, titled “Transformation: Exploring the Art of Bookmaking with Barry Moser,” will take place from April 14 to May 26 at AVA, located at 30 Frazier Ave. on Chattanooga’s North Shore.

UTC Symphony Orchestra to perform spring concert on April 16
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Symphony Orchestra will present a free concert, open to the public, at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 16, in the UTC Fine Arts Center’s Roland Hayes Concert Hall.
Concrete and steel: Civil engineering students build canoes and bridges in national competition
From Thursday, March 30, through Saturday, April 1, UTC welcomed more than 300 civil engineering students from 14 visiting universities to participate in various technical and non-technical competitions and events throughout Chattanooga—including the Concrete Canoe Competition and the Steel Bridge Competition.
Decade of distinction: UTC chosen again as ‘Tree Campus USA’
In honor of the decade-long run as a Tree Campus USA, a European horse chestnut tree—a species suggested by Dr. Hill Craddock for the occasion—was planted outside Patten Chapel on Friday, March 31.
