For the fourth time in eight years, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Mock Trial team has advanced to the national championship tournament. The tournament, which takes place April 14-16 in Memphis at host site Rhodes College, features 48 mock trial teams from across the country.

UTC senior earns Top 20 spot in college journalism’s highest honor
For the second year in a row, a student at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga has been recognized in a national competition known as the Pulitzer Prize for collegiate journalism. Jules Jackson, a double major in art and communications, placed 19th in the 2022-23 Hearst Multimedia Narrative Storytelling Competition.

Fly for Researchers pitch competition set for April 19
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga’s Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, housed in the Gary W. Rollins College of Business, will host the 2nd annual Fly for Researchers Pitch Competition for UTC faculty and graduate student innovators at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19.
UTC professor chosen as engineer of the year by TVA and National Society of Professional Engineers
Dr. Stephen Craven, a UTC alum, former full-time electrical engineering faculty member and current adjunct professor has received the 2023 O.J. Zeringue Engineer of the Year award, the highest award that TVA offers. He also was honored as the Federal Engineer of the Year by the National Society of Professional Engineers.

Honors College honor: O’Dea featured in new humanities lecture series
Before a packed audience in the Guerry Center Reading Room on Feb. 24, the inaugural O’Dea Lecture in the Humanities series sponsored by the UTC Honors College kicked off. UC Foundation Professor of English Gregory O’Dea gave his talk titled “Humanities in the Wild: Reintroducing a Vital Species of Thought.”
