On Thursday, May 4, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga College of Engineering and Computer Science will open its second mechatronics laboratory—the Robotics, Intelligent Systems and Control Lab. The new lab will focus on two intertwined areas: Artificial intelligence and mobile mechatronics, also called mobile robots.
Dr. Sungwoo Yang, assistant professor in the Department of Civil and Chemical Engineering, won the second annual Fly for Researchers Pitch Competition. By winning, he will receive $20,000 to apply to research on what he calls Aerogel 2.0—“the next generation of aerogel.”
The 2nd Annual UTC Fly for Researchers Faculty Pitch Competition will be held from 3:30-5 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19, in the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, located in the Mapp Building (410 E. Eighth St.).
The articulation agreement guarantees UTC admission to mechatronics students who have successfully completed the 60-credit-hour Associate of Applied Science in the Mechatronics degree program at Volunteer State Community College, located in Gallatin, Tennessee.
