A memorable Homecoming Week 2023 at the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga came to a close on Saturday, Oct. 7, with the crowning of the Homecoming King and Queen during halftime of the Mocs’ football game against Western Carolina—seniors Tred Hill and Dominique Harris.
UTC Divine Nine Heritage Park opening an “opportunity for us to see a dream come true”
A long-awaited tribute to the legacy of the pioneering African American Greek-letter fraternities and sororities on the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga campus has formally been unveiled. On Friday, Oct. 6, as part of Homecoming Week, a grand opening ceremony was held to introduce UTC Divine Nine Heritage Park, a monument and destination spot to educate the campus on the origins, history and purpose of the National Panhellenic Council’s “Divine Nine.”

In his documentary “Beautiful Faces,” 2012 UTC alum Dagan Beckett explores the journeys three young patients, their parents and local surgeon Dr. Larry Sargent took through multiple plastic surgeries to address their medical problems.
Power C Tour takes UTC on the road
The annual Power C Tour, which kicks off this Thursday, Oct. 5, with a visit to Memphis, will give prospective students across Tennessee four chances in October and November to learn more about UTC.
“Mocs Don’t Haze:” Community workshop event inspires active engagement
The Roland Hayes Concert hall nearly burst at the seams for a National Hazing Prevention Week conversation on Tuesday, Sept. 26, almost reaching its 505-capacity seating for a Hazing Prevention Workshop. The workshop, one of the highlights on the “Mocs Don’t Haze” calendar, proved an empowering exchange of ideas between the guest speaker, Dr. Jason Meriwether, and the UTC community.

Immigrants’ painful journey the subject of documentary to be shown at UTC
Pablo Mazariegos, who immigrated to America at age 11 in 1992 to join his parents, will screen his documentary “Un Nuevo Pasado (Someday Soon)” on Tuesday, Oct. 3. The screening, which takes place beginning at 6 p.m. in the UTC Fine Arts Center’s Roland Hayes Concert Hall, will also include a session with Mazariegos fielding questions from the audience.
