For the sixth consecutive year, UTC hosted Bloodanooga, Chattanooga’s largest blood drive. Organized by Blood Assurance, the area’s only blood bank, which serves and provides for nearly 50 medical facilities across Tennessee, Georgia, Virginia, Alabama, and North Carolina, this semester’s Bloodanooga was held in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
ABET-ETAC accreditation awarded to the undergrad technology program
It’s official—when the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET-ETAC) accredited the BS Engineering Technology Management (ETM) program earlier this month, this achievement was especially good news—now all the undergraduate programs in the College of Engineering and Computer Science are accredited by ABET-ETAC.
UTC students dunk the dean of the College of Business
At “Down with the Dean,” students got the rare chance to watch a Dean get wet in a dunk tank. Students gathered around for free food and free t-shirts, then lined up for a chance to take their shots at Dr. Robert Dooley, the Dean of the College of Business.
Sequoya Review highlights creative achievement
UTC students, faculty, and staff who have a yearning to become published writers or artists have a chance to make that dream come true by submitting original creative work to the Sequoya Review Literary Arts Magazine. Deadline for submissions for this year’s edition is September 30, 2013.

The new head of the UTC Department of Political Science, Public Administration and Nonprofit Management never had the opportunity to meet the late Dr. Bob Swansbrough, but she perfectly described the longtime UTC professor of political science and administrator at a recent gathering of friends and colleagues.

WUTC host announces national roller derby championships
Rabbit Zielke, feature news producer with WUTC, spends many of her weekends with ladies like Bipolar Bear, Shank Williams Jr., and Jenny Hate. These skaters are with the Chattanooga Roller Girls, and Zeilke is their announcer, as well as the announcer for four other local leagues. This year alone, Zeilke has called the action on forty-one roller derby games, known as bouts.
UTC named among best universities in the South
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga is ranked once again in the Top Tier of Southern Regional Universities in U.S. News and World Report’s 2014 college rankings.
Professor’s research affects highest level on Ukraine government
Dr. Irina Khmelko grew up under communist control in Kiev, Ukraine, and faced persecution just for sneaking to attend church. Khmelko is now assisting her native country in forming a more democratic government by partnering with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
